Caring about other, giving, taking (appreciating), considering other people’s feelings, respecting others, taking care of nature and animals, accepting difference as a part of life, the value of continuing to grow and learn, being honest, dealing with emotions effectively, proactively helping others — these principals are the foundation for a successful life.
Awareness
Children are innately self-oriented. They are focused almost entirely on their own survival and thus spend their time concerned with fulfilling their own needs. Part of the process of growing is for them to begin to be aware of what is happening around them, how that may impact the fulfillment of their needs and how they could participate in the fulfillment of the needs of others. Actively facilitating these observations and encouraging them with positive reinforcement fosters a caring and giving heart that ultimately leads to a deeper happiness in life.
Hard Work
The desire to achieve and the willingness to work hard in order to achieve is a true marker of success. Learning is certainly fun, and much can be taught through play. We emphasize, however, that basic principles of discipline, hard work, and the rewards they provide are integral to achieving success.
